Hey, I’m Amber.

Therapy might be for you if…
Life is stressful, overwhelming, and unbalanced. Maybe being in autopilot is all you know. This could be from past or ongoing abuse and trauma and the way you learned how to cope with it. Maybe you get so caught up in autopilot that you forget to slow down, feel, and unpack what just happened. There’s poor communication with your friends, family, and loved ones. Stuck in a rut of communication and not knowing how to adjust. Walls up so high that people aren’t let in, or maybe you are avoiding conflict so much that you have the tendency to people-please and don’t prioritize your own needs. Whatever it might be, you recognize change is needed.
Motivational Interviewing
Originally designed for substance abuse, now utilized in various settings, motivational interview aids people in resolving ambivalence and finding intrinsic reasons for change through a client-centred, directive manner. This modality is particularly useful for those with low motivation for change. This method seeks the client to become aware and utilize their own goals, values, and motivations. (APA, 2018)
Modalities
Somatic Therapy
Somatic therapy uses psychotherapy and physical techniques for holistic therapy. Rather than looking at the mind and body as two separate entities, somatic therapy sees them as connected and influencing one another. This method often includes developing internal resources to regulate emotions and physiological responses. Additionally, we increase the mind-body connection, bringing more attention to the present, rather than the past of future. (Psychology Today, 2022)
The Gottman Method
Integrated with research-based interventions based on the Sound Relationship House Theory developed by the Gottman’s. The goals of The Gottman Method are to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy, respect, and affection, remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the relationship. (The Gottman Institute, 2025)
